WR1 V2

3D Printable R/C Rally Chassis | Digital File Bundle

A complete bundle of STL/3MF print files and a comprehensive 67-page assembly guide for building a custom, 1/8 scale AWD RC rally chassis from scratch on your home 3D printer.

What You’re Getting

Digital product - no physical items will be shipped. Files are for personal use and may not be redistributed or resold.

What You're Getting

This is a digital product - you receive a complete bundle of STL/3MF print files and a professional 67-page assembly guide, everything you need to build a fully custom, all-wheel-drive RC rally chassis from scratch on your home 3D printer.

This is not a kit. There are no parts in a box. What you're buying is the design - engineered from the ground up to be printed, assembled, and driven.

What's Included

3D Print Files

  • Full set of STL/3MF files for every printed component on the WR1 chassis
  • Split-body alternatives for printers with build volumes as small as 180x180mm - no full-size printer required
  • Optimized geometry for common FDM materials (PETG, ASA, or PLA+ for low-stress parts)

67-Page Assembly Guide

  • IKEA-style step-by-step renderings for every major assembly stage - no guesswork
  • 46+ clearly numbered steps from bare frame to rolling chassis
  • Tolerances and fit notes called out where they matter most

Itemized Hardware BOM with Active Links

  • Every non-printed fastener, bearing, shaft, differential, and electronic component listed by name and spec
  • Multiple sourcing options per item (Amazon and AliExpress) so you can choose speed or savings
  • Links verified at time of publication - no hunting for part numbers
The Build

The WR1 is a purpose-designed AWD rally platform built around readily available RC drivetrain components. It features independent suspension on all four corners, front, center, and rear differentials, and is sized to run WR8-compatible wheels and tires.

  • Drive system: HobbyWing Quicrun 10BL120 G2 ESC paired with a 3660 brushless motor - a proven, serviceable combination used across the performance RC community.
  • Suspension: Independent on all four corners with 85mm front and 95mm rear oil-filled shocks.
  • Differentials: Three-diff AWD layout (front, center, rear) using GPM-spec metal internals - the same approach used in full-production RC cars at 3-4x the cost.
  • Wheels: Designed to accept HPI WR8 Tarmac wheels and tires directly off the shelf.
What You'll Need to Buy

Building a WR1 requires purchasing the non-printed hardware separately. Here's an honest breakdown:

Electronics (motor, ESC, servo) ~$117
Drivetrain (diffs, shafts, pinion, links) ~$129
Suspension (shocks) ~$23
Bearings ~$19
Fasteners, inserts, pins, nuts ~$73
Consumables (fluids, grease, glue) ~$20
Wheels + Tires ~$23
Rolling chassis total ~$404

One-time tools (soldering iron, hex drivers, pliers) are additional if you don't already own them.

The assembly guide includes a complete, itemized hardware list with direct purchase links for every component above. Every item is sourceable from Amazon or AliExpress - nothing obscure, nothing discontinued.

Who This Is For

You'll get the most out of this if you:

  • Have built or modded an RC car before and are comfortable with assembly
  • Own or have access to an FDM 3D printer (minimum 180x180mm build plate)
  • Want a platform you fully understand and can repair yourself
File Format & Compatibility
  • Files delivered as STL and/or 3MF
  • Compatible with all major slicers: Bambu Studio, Orca Slicer, PrusaSlicer, Cura
  • Recommended materials: PETG or ASA for chassis components, PLA+ acceptable for low-load parts
  • Print settings guide included in the assembly document
From CURV LAB

The WR1 is the most complete thing we've published - a full rolling chassis, not just a body shell.
